Hirslanden AG: Implementation of NEXUS / RISNG continues in all radiology facilities

With Klinik Hirslanden, NEXUS / RISNG has now been introduced in the second facility of the private hospital group of the same name.

The Hirslanden Group has decided on NEXUS / RISNG as a strategic product for all radiological facilities of the Group. Centralization and digitization are in the foreground: thus, all processes of radiology and nuclear medicine are to be mapped digitally efficiently and a central software structure is to be created for all sites.

In 2017, the "Klinik im Park" with three sites in Zurich was converted to the new system. Extensive software enhancements were made within this pilot project over the past two years and NEXUS accompanied the Group intensively in implementing the internal IT strategy "HIT". After successful completion of the IT transformation, the next hospital could now be converted to NEXUS / RISNG in 2019.

"Hirslanden Clinic is one of the largest and most complex facilities in the Group. Therefore, we are particularly proud of the successful productive start in radiology and nuclear medicine in April, which was made possible by excellent cooperation between the project teams of Hirslanden and NEXUS," explained Dennis Klein, Division Manager Radiology at NEXUS.

The new software solution integrates SAP patient and case management as well as the existing Synedra PACS and provides the optimum conditions for centralization of all radiological processes, e.g., central patient administration, material management, referral management, billing and order communication.

The most important added values of the newly implemented NEXUS / RISNG at a glance:
  • SAP patient and case management integrated in RIS with bidirectional context communication
  • Fully electronic receipt of requests via fax / e-mail integration
  • Electronic order communication
  • Uniform appointment management with utilization overview
  • Telephony functions directly from RIS
  • Digital visuation workflow
  • Integrated teleradiology workflow
  • Uniform, standardized workstation list and examination documentation, from which TARMED billing is automatically determined
  • Clear and workflow-optimized report writing with digital order request and automatic image retrieval
  • RIS-controlled patient and referring physician portal for access to diagnostic and image information
  • Plug-in integration of the laboratory overview
  • Uniform correction workflow (typing office)
  • Alert function for all necessary areas
  • Extensive back-office management for CD dispatch, printing of findings, etc.
  • Cross-site statistics functions

Stefan Renz, Hirslanden AG: "It is important to us to offer patients exceptional quality. To do this, we rely on state-of-the-art technology, among other things. With the help of the new, central RIS system, many paper processes and interfaces are eliminated. Appointment management is significantly simplified and patient data is always available at the right workplace: A gain in efficiency for our work."

Following this successful productive start, the rollout to a further 14 sites will continue this fall: Implementation will then take place at the St. Gallen (Stephanshorn) site.
