Advancing the digital networking of the German health care system is a declared goal of the Federal Government. With the newly created framework conditions, it wants to successfully establish not only the electronic patient record (ePA), which is already scheduled to start on 1 January 2021, but also other applications of the telematics infrastructure, such as the e-prescription or the specification of medical information objects (MIOs).
